The best thing about football is that you can play it
anywhere anytime. You just need a ball, a ground and 22 players. You don't need
to have bats, helmets, gloves, racquets which other games require. But what
will you do if you have no ground and have just 10 players? You can still play
football, on an indoor court. The game is called Futsal.
Futsal is a format of football, five-a-side game which is
full of action. This version of football
is fast, small and officially recognized by both UEFA and FIFA. The game mainly
focuses on player’s technical ability and improvisation. Futsal has been
traditionally played in Brazil and Uruguay in early days and now also catching
up in India big time.
India's first rooftop
mini-football field opened in Wadala Mumbai.
In Past few years there are many futsal centers which have
opened all over India. These centers are encouraging Indian youth towards this
provocative sport. Especially SAI, Indian Soccer Futsal Federation and Futsal Federation
of India are working together to make Futsal more popular between
youth of India.
Futsal Association of India
Futsal Association of India is an organization formed in
2007 and continuously working to develop the game of futsal in India. Futsal
has been introduced by Namdev Shirgaonkar in 2007, after that Futsal has
emerged as new and fast form of football in India. FAI has been developing
futsal through various District, State and National Championships and till now
12 Indian states have become Members of the Association.
FAI organized its 1st Youth Futsal Championship in 2011 and
after that Pune FC has hosted the inaugural season of the Godrej
Properties-Pune FC Futsal Cup 2015.
Futsal a Perfection game
One of the biggest reasons for futsal to get popular in
India is that it helps players to develop their control on smaller pitches with
some players and limited space. The Futsal players are highly creative and
always get ready for the ball; they create chances out of nothing. These are
all highly desirable skills required in the modern game like Futsal.
